My pregnancy with my first was somewhat easy.
no nausea, the only issue was that gestational diabetes. however, that was under control with dieting. At about 35 weeks, my water broke on its own. I saw signs, like mucus plug coming out, but I knew this stuff can happen weeks before according to a lot of my reading on what to expect. I wasn't feeling any contractions until about my 4th hour at the hospital. At about 6 hours in, I ended up asking for an epidural, since I knew (and all the nurses around me told me it could be 18+ hours) the pain was getting worse, I was not prepared for this at all. I start getting irritated with the fact that my husband was able to sleep, or that my mother was able to sleep but then would wake up and try to comfort me. At times, I wish I could have gone back in time and known that there was something called a doula to hire to be there and help me through my experience. I feel like the entire experience would have been a bit better. Anyways, about 18/19 hours in. The doctor who was there in substitution for my actual doctor (the one that saw me through the pregnancy ) came in checked on me and told me the head is in the birth canal, and that I was only 4 cm dilated, for about 10 hours already, and she had mentioned the baby's heart rate started to go down. She gave me the option to wait another 2 hours to see what happens or to go ahead and go for the c-section. At this point, I was exhausted and didn't want to see and wait 2 hours to see what might happen, so given all the information we had, we decided on a c-section. Thank gd we were blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby boy. Of course, we had an 11 day stay in the NICU, my recovery didn't go so well. Now this baby is a healthy, 6-year-old boy that loves school, and loves his family, and his mommy's little helper.
